Burglary Prevention

This past week Mission Area has seen a rise in residential burglaries.  Criminals entered homes through open windows, especially side or rear ones.

If you want to keep windows open during the warm weather make sure you are home and preferably in the same room as that window.  Open the window far enough to allow air to circulate but closed enough to keep a person out.  Windows can be locked into place by different brackets and solid objects such as solid piece of wood.

Do not leave windows open or unsecured when you leave your residence or fall asleep.

Other things one can do to prevent someone from breaking in is keep plants and hedges trimmed below windows.  Take away hiding spots criminals may use to their advantage.  Install outdoor lighting and make sure any outdoor lights work properly.

These are a few things one can do to prevent a burglary.  The important thing is take away criminals opportunity to take advantage of you.

The safety of our Neighborhood is not up to the Police...IT IS OURS!

It is up to everyone that lives in our community to watch out, not only for themselves but, for their neighbors. If you see cars that are parked and not moved for more than 72 hours call 311 and report it. If you see any vandalism, PLEASE report it. If you see someone that obviously doesn't belong or is doing something they shouldn't be, PLEASE report it. Lets keep our neighborhood clean, if you see furniture being dumped, call and have it removed.

WE ARE THE EYES AND EARS FOR THE POLICE. IT IS UP TO US TO KEEP OUR NEIGHBORHOOD SAFE!!!
