Burglary Suspect Caught

On Tuesday December 27, 2011, a black male was pretending to be wielding a weapon and holding people up at the Marson Street Pocket Park. The police were called and the suspect tried to evade police. With Air support and K9, the suspect was found hiding in a vacant home on Marson Street and taken into custody. The suspect has quite a record and thankfully to the LAPD is off the streets.

Grafitti Removal, Safety and more!!!

Just wanted to let everyone know, if you haven’t noticed already, that the Grafitti has been removed from the Billboard by the Triangle Liquor Store.

Also, a little Holiday Safety. There has been many home robberies in the Van Nuys area and they are finding that Windows are being left unlocked, Garages left open, and Doors Unlocked.  PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL AND LOCK UP TIGHT! Why make it easy on these criminals!!!

Believe it or not they are finding that some of these criminals are actually cutting holes in the glass and not just breaking windows! They are also going door to door selling candy/magazines trying to find out who is home or not or to gain access to homes. Many of the kids that come to your homes selling magazine subscriptions/candy are not legitimate. PLEASE only buy these items from neighbors/children that you KNOW!!!

WISHING EVERY ONE A MERRY CHRISTMAS, HAPPY HANNUKAH AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS! MAY WE ALL HAVE A SAFE, HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR!

Street Lights ????

Quick update…Debbie has requested Street Lights for our Neighborhood. No guarantees, but keep your fingers crossed!!!

Changes at Mission Station

Hello neighbors,

I would like to let everyone know that Captain Scott has been promoted to Commander of West Bureau.  He will be replaced by Captain Todd Chamberlain on November 6th, 2011.

Also, our temporary Lead, Officer Menchaka was promoted to the Senior Lead of Sylmar. We will have a new Senior Lead as of November 6th, 2011. We do not know who it will be as of yet. However, you can still reach Officer Menchaka at the same numbers you used for Officer Ismail.

The safety of our Neighborhood is not up to the Police...IT IS OURS!

It is up to everyone that lives in our community to watch out, not only for themselves but, for their neighbors. If you see cars that are parked and not moved for more than 72 hours call 311 and report it. If you see any vandalism, PLEASE report it. If you see someone that obviously doesn't belong or is doing something they shouldn't be, PLEASE report it. Lets keep our neighborhood clean, if you see furniture being dumped, call and have it removed.

WE ARE THE EYES AND EARS FOR THE POLICE. IT IS UP TO US TO KEEP OUR NEIGHBORHOOD SAFE!!!
